Legend Cube

This idea for this cube came about because I collect all things legendary in magic already. The list for the MTGO legendary cube came out, and I realized that I already had most of the cards in it. So, after a while, I made the proxies I needed to, sleeved everything up, and had the Cube Wizards gave us. Now I'm trying to make it better and personalize it a little.

This update was me looking though OGW, SOI, and EMN and seeing cube cards. It's kinda funny that I put in two meld pairs out of three, considering how bad of a limited mechanic it is, but the individual cards are worth it, and the mechanic is super cool. I might put original Avacyn back in though.

I also tried to give preference to more and faster creatures. Some of them are just good cards rather than fitting an archetype, but I think that's good. The two archetypes that I'm really actively pushing are Mill and Samurai, and There's no danger of them being too powerful. I also just added two cards to blue, because it was lower than others. Battlements counts as a red card, but that color is low too. We'll see how it goes.

Lim-Dul the Necromancer >Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet
Cyclonic Rift >Crush of Tentacles
Mikokoro, Center of the Sea >Westvale Abbey
Bearscape >Second Harvest
Avacyn, Angel of Hope >Bruna, the Fading Light
Battle Screech >Gisela, the Broken Blade
Griffin Guide >Thalia, Heretic Cathar
Shimatsu the Bloodcloaked >Hanweir Garrison
Mulch >Prey Upon
Prismatic Lens >Sigarda's Aid
Changing Some Stuff Around

So I really wanted to get Liliana out of there, because her -X ability was useless, and that bugged me, even though I get that half the text in the cube is functionally useless. This is a whole ability that isn't super bad, it's just unusable! So I took her out in exchange for a 3 drop I had lying around. I couldn't decide between the two options I had, and both are interesting, so I threw them both in. Black is smaller than the other colors, anyway. I've got to keep an eye out for blue creatures in the future.

Anyway, there's ways to discard Haakon, but they aren't everywhere, or a mechanic or anything. If anything, it's a reason to use some of the discard cards from the mill deck outside of the mill deck. I haven't looked to see if there are other knights, but maybe that'll be a thing in a deck somewhere.

Kuon is a cool flip card, and has sacrifice stuff, so it goes in that deck. Something tells me that he'll get more use out of being a 2/4, though. We'll have to see.

Also I have an Avacyn, so I wanted it in there. I took out another, much worse white flyer. It boosts the mana curve up a little, but I think it's probably worth it, considering Avy's a legitimately good card.

Liliana, Heretical Healer >Haakon, Stromgald Scourge
Commander Eesha >Archangel Avacyn

So it turns out when I was making cuts, I cut all of the WUG cards. This meant that when I was going through the list to add more, that color combination didn't come up so I missed it entirely. So here's a few more cards.

Forgot a few cards. I'm upset all the draft matters cards are non-legendary creatures. Hopefully conspiracy 2 will change that.

So what I ended up doing was I took out the tri-lands, because I didn't want that many 3-5 color decks, I took out the ABUR duals, because I'm not made of money, And then I let each color pair pick two from either the Karoos, the Mirage fetches, the storage lands, the battle for zendikar lands, and the scry lands. That means every color pair gets 6 lands, instead of where it was before in the original legend cube, where every color pair got 6 lands, allies, got an additional 2, and there were the tri lands as well. I think this is a decent amount of lands still, but there's not as much mana fixing. This should make all the mana fixing in green more important, and make less 5 color goodstuff decks.

And that's it. MarkII of the cube is done. I'm going to get this in paper, and it's ready to play. I can see myself doing a ton of changes, but I'm not planning on ever doing so much at once that the cube isn't playable. One-for-one swaps, maybe a couple of cards here or there, that kind of thing.
